HAZOPs and Risk Management
Monday, March 25, 2013
Managing the risks associated with a project of any scale is a necessity in achieving compliance with regulatory requirements, across all industries. Every project will have a number of inherent risks associated with it, and it is the responsibility of project owners to identify these risks and ensure that they are reduced to tolerable levels. Failure to do so could result in lost time, injuries, fatalities, environmental impacts and commercial implications for any extended delay or shut down as a result.
One of the key methodologies for identifying hazards and the risks they pose are Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs). A HAZOP involves the systematic identification of hazards and operability issues within an engineering design that arise from deviations from the design intent. Due to the their systematic nature, HAZOPs are an effective tool for uncovering issues or design faults that may have otherwise gone unnoticed, which can be costly and time consuming to rectify in later project phases.
Alberfield has the knowledge and expertise to facilitate, report upon and provide recommendations with regards to the risks associated with your projects through HAZOP Studies.
